Liana Pistell & Tariq Khokhar

Liana manages the World Bank's social media presence in English, including global campaigns and marketing. She is passionate about the intersection of international development and new media, and has held previous roles as Director of Marketing for a financial services tech startup in Nepal; Head of Public Relations for a global education nonprofit; and Operations Analyst for the World Bank's youth and gender programs in East Africa. Liana is a graduate of Georgetown University and the University of Oxford.
Tariq Khokhar is the World Bank's first data scientist. He's a mathematician and computer scientist from Cambridge, UK and his interests lie where technology, poverty and data meet. He makes the Bank’s data openly available to others; supports the data and statistics operations of governments around the world; and develops new ways to collect, curate, analyze, and visualize data about global development.
